John is a geek who was born and currently resides in the greater Philadelphia region of Southeastern Pennsylvania, USA. He harbors an abiding love of networking and open source software, with particular fondness for FreeBSD, Python, IPv6, and DNSSEC. When John is not hacking on this or that, he enjoys craft beer and prohibition-era cocktails, and international travel. He doesn't get outside as much as he should, but when he does he tends to bike, and has been known to run, hike, or ski.
John holds a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a minor in Applied Mathematics, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
